The APPLE Outreach group is responsible for:

  • planning and publicizing APPLE's public events
  • providing support to APPLE workgroups
  • increasing public awareness of energy depletion issues through presentations to community groups
  • publishing APPLE's informational pamphlets and writing newspaper articles
  • arranging for an APPLE table at selected community events and festivals
  • producing TV, radio, and Internet broadcasts which advance APPLE's agenda
  • managing alliances with other groups (as directed by APPLE's core group)
  • helping to create sustainability-focused community networks

The Outreach Group is comprised of various "teams" which meet as needed on different schedules and do a lot of their work via special e-mail listserves.

As of July 1, more volunteers are needed for the following Outreach teams:

  1. Publications team (writing, editing, updating APPLE literature; writing articles)
  2. Event Tabling team (arranging for and/or representing APPLE at events, festivals, etc.)
  3. Publicity team (help with postering and contacting various media outlets)

For more info, contact Tem Tarriktar, Outreach Coordinator, at pcurrents (at) mountainastrologer.com or call him at 274-3435.

Our latest accomplishments:

  • "Peak Moment" -- a weekly, locally produced TV show, broadcast on NCTV channel 11, is now on other West Coast stations, and some episodes are downloadable on the Internet.
  • Richard Heinberg's talk in Grass Valley last November was broadcast to a national audience on Free Speech TV (on satellite) from June 12-18.
  • The Publicity team is successfully promoting APPLE's monthly public events and drawing large crowds!
  • The Presentations team is developing a Powerpoint presentation and will be available for bookings starting in September 2006.
  • There was a huge APPLE presence at the Nevada Theater screenings of Al Gore's "An Inconvenient Truth." Over 700 people heard the news about APPLE's projects and received up-to-date information about California's AB32 legislation to fight climate change.
